Raya’s POV

“What are the contributions of sir Thoma in the novel?” I asked Matilda, we were having our lessons the following day. We had not run into Lord Christopher since and we were both acting like yesterday had been another bad dream.

“Sir Thoma? I think he’s a fool,” said Matilda with a silly face.

I could tell she was in no mood to learn but one of the things I was trying to get through her thick skull was that life did not always present her with situations where she had a choice. I was aware she knew that already but sometimes it was like she forgot.

“Why do you think so?”

At this point, another tutor would have seen Matilda’s funny faces and would have given up on passing any knowledge across to her but I was not going to do that. As a tutor my job was not just to teach her what to think but how to think. If she thought the greatest character in the novel was a fool, she was going to give me valid reasons for it.
