Maeve’s POV
Seraphine had just asked if I wanted to learn the truth. The truth? About what, exactly? Deep down, I craved answers to everything that had been happening. It felt as though secrets were being hoarded behind every door.
Quietly, I followed her into the spell room, my mind racing. The air inside felt frigid, as if the room itself were made of ice. Chills slid down my spine even though no window stood open. Perhaps I knew instinctively that whatever truth awaited me would be unpleasant.
“What is it you want to know?” Seraphine’s voice snapped me back from my thoughts.
“Everything that’s been hidden from me about the pack and Draven. I need to know exactly what happened tonight.” I crossed my arms, rubbing my forearms to warm myself. “Seraphine, Draven was utterly—”
“Different,” she supplied.
