Chapter 32

Nate’s POV

The weeks were passing quickly and, much to Brutus’s dismay, we still hadn’t marked Ember. It was less than 2 weeks until the King’s arrival and Ember had been working hard.

She had attended her appointments with the psychiatrists almost religiously, and I was happy to see her begin to open up a little more. She had most definitely become more affectionate in our interactions, and I looked forward to spending our evenings together.

From what I had heard from her trainers, she was a quick study. It didn’t take long for her to pick up on new routines or learn new styles of fighting. She wasn’t on a professional level by any means, but she was able to hold her own pretty well against the standard ranks of our fighters.

I was so proud of how far she had come.
