Nate’s POV

I stood nervously at the base of the stairs, waiting for Ember to come down.

Becky and Ember had come back together giggling, and the guards I had sent looked like they had seen enough of boutiques for the day.

I had relieved them of their duty with a nod and smile, thanking them profusely for ensuring the ladies’ safety while they were out.

It made me happy to know that I could provide for Ember, especially after the trauma she had so obviously been through.

She didn’t know it yet, but I had managed to get hold of one of my ex sparring partners who worked on Special Assignment. He was more than happy to spend time training Ember and Becky. Even just a few weeks with him training her would give her a competitive edge in whatever the King decided to throw at her.
