Chapter 42

Nate’s POV

I had been on the way to my office with Josh to go over the itinerary for the King’s arrival and discuss a few things that the dragons wanted clearing up before they arrived, when we had heard the shocked gasps of some of the omegas from below.

We had both stopped and sought out the source of the commotion with curiosity and watched with pride as Ember confronted Cordelia with little hesitation.

Josh whistled lowly as she pinned her against the wall and nudged me in the ribs.

“She’s certainly a lot more feisty than she was before.” He chuckled in amusement as Cordelia ran from Ember’s fury like the coward she was.

“She is indeed,” I grinned stupidly as Brutus puffed his chest out proudly and crowed about his fearsome mate.

“Do you think she’ll manage okay with the added pressure of Beatrice and her father here?” Josh asked carefully as we continued on down the hallway to my office, “Not that I doubt her capabilities, I’d be a foo
