As soon as Ulfric had opened his filthy mouth, Brutus had wanted to rip his throat out, but I couldn’t do a thing to act on it, not yet.

All I needed was for him to accept Ember as my Luna, begrudgingly or not, and as much as it killed me to let these insults go unpunished right now, it would save us a whole lot of headaches with the rest of the packs later.

If she was shunned by the King, any other Alpha that so much as breathed positively in our direction would find himself unofficially marked as a traitor and accused of treason against the king for not agreeing with his decisions.

It would make diplomacy incredibly difficult and gathering support to move against him, practically impossible.
