Ember’s POV

The manacles around my wrist were as tight as I remembered them in my nightmares. The rot and damp that hung in the fetid air still suffocated my lungs exactly as it had in all of the memories that I thought I had pushed away. Now, I had new ones to take their place.

My new memories were filled with fresh torment, and fear and pain as the psychotic bitch fulfilled her promise with enthusiasm. Each time she visited, the methods she employed were more inventive than the last. The only difference was that this time, I had Becky to share in my pain and agony with me, the two of us clutching each other tightly at night for comfort… for we had little else.
