Nate’s POV

I paced restlessly at the gathering point that we had arranged to meet at as I waited for everyone to arrive.

Brutus mimicked my movements in my mind, pacing relentlessly backwards and forwards as he grumbled to himself about his plans for Magda when we finally got our hands on her.

“Nate!” Josh shouted as he jogged over with a murderous looking Rob following closely behind, “Rae is just briefing the rest of his team and then they’ll be here.”

I nodded stiffly.

“Did everyone make it to the Weyr without issue?” I asked seriously.

“Yeah, there were a couple of close calls on the way due to the terrified kids not listening and doing as they were told,” Josh answered as he rolled his eyes, “Typical hormonal teenagers thinking they know better.”

I said nothing as my mouth tightened into a thin line, nodding once more to indicate that I had heard what he said.
