Marcus stares at me.
“I think Cortez has similar potential.”
“I think like you,” says Nick. “And I have a proposal.”
We both look at him.
“Sell Isaac fifteen percent of your interest in the Winn Building. I’ll cover the difference personally.”
I gape at him.
“But you never do that.”
Nick guards his personal assets tooth and nail. In fact, when investors threatened to back out after we lost our original architect, Nick expressly refused to put in his own money.
“It’s not never,” he says, meeting Marcus’s gaze squarely. “And this time I think it’s worth the risk.”
