Chapter 17. Unwanted Expectations
“Are you crazy, Vonnie?” Robert rebuked.
“I, uh—” I was literally speechless.
“What happened?” came my uncaring husband’s voice as he walked back into the living room from somewhere. “What is Ms. V doing in your arms, Mr. Whittaker?”
“Oh, do you care?” Robert mocked, glaring in Aaron’s direction.

“You have no right to,” Robert retorted. “Vonnie, are you hurt anywhere?”

“No, Ms. V, you are hurt,” Aaron stated, pointing at my right knuckle which had hit a sharp showpiece earlier during the fall.
