Chapter 58. Foolish Yet Endearing
It was morning when Aaron finally woke up. I let his mother talk with him first because her pressure went high while she was worried about him all night, even though I had insisted she go back home.
After Elise and Stephen left the cabin, I entered to find Aaron sitting up and staring at the flower vase. My gaze lingered on the gauze around his upper arm. Thank goodness, the bullet went past his arm and didn't sever anything important.
Without even looking at me, as if sensing my presence, he said, “Hey.”
As I didn't respond, he looked up at me with his innocent green eyes and mumbled, “Please don't scold me. Mom already lectured me for half an hour, which made me feel like I was back to being a teenager.”
