Chapter 10. Her Supposed-to-Be Husband

Fred turned out to be a good person and offered me a ride back to the law office. He said he needed to do some errands anyway and could just drop me off at the nearest intersection. It sounded like a fair deal and the fact that I didn’t bring anything with me but my phone, I had no choice.
“Thank you very much, Mr. Fred. I owe you one,” I said as he stopped on the corner of Dallia Street.
“Sure, sir.”
He gave me a nod and then drove back to the curb. The law office was out of the way, and it was kind of him to drop me off at the nearest intersection.
As I turned to walk to the office, I took a deep breath. I was sure Seth had heard what had happened by now. There would be another set of unkind words waiting for me inside. I got my phone and sent a quick text to my wife. A simple text, really.
