Chapter 9. The Brother-in-Law

Anton’s car was spacious enough to accommodate at least eight people inside. I observed with awe. He got the key from the inside pockets of his suit and drove while I was in the passenger’s seat. His driving speed was moderate, not reckless nor dangerous.
On our trip, I was quiet and observant of the highway, avoiding any conversation. The sooner this appointment was over and I was back in my vehicle, the better. Also, the view of the towering buildings and swirling overpasses was overwhelming. I was not yet familiar with this part of Metro Manila and being alone with Anton Ridley sent me nerve-wracking thoughts. So, I focused on what was outside the car than the company I had inside. Lying low, tiptoeing to not cross any borders.
“Are you reaping the benefits yet?” Anton blurted out, cutting my train of thought.
“I… I don’t understand.”
He smirked. “There’s no one else here. You can be dreadfully honest with me. I know you only married my sister
