Chapter 104. Placeholder
DYLAN
As I said, Olivia’s day was ruined by one fortune cookie. She just won’t listen to me when I say that fortune cookies are only made for fun. It shouldn’t be taken seriously. She became quiet until we reached our destination.
Gilbert got out of the other car and said we should wait outside the gate. He said he and the driver have to go first and check if the caretakers are around. I nodded and parked the car at the right side of the gate as Gilbert opened it.
Olivia’s still silent. But it’s getting uncomfortable, given how excited she was back home about mobbing into a mansion. By that, I broke the ice.
“Are you still mad at the cookie?” I asked lightheartedly.
“No, this isn’t about that anymore. You didn’t give me an answer, Dy. You simply dismissed the topic. Please, give me an answer. I won’t be fine until you assure me I’m not just your rebound or placeholder.”
This time, I was the one who was silenced. Where did that come from? Rebound?
