Chapter 109. Owning Up

“There’s Ash. Where have you been? You left the mansion early and yet you’re late to the office? Did you run off or something?”
Anton clapped his hands slowly as I opened the door to my office. He was behind me; I could smell his perfume (that’s too strong if you ask me) and his god complex from where I was standing.
“I stopped over at the convenience store to get a marker,” I lied and turned to him. The door to my office was left open.
“Really? Where is it then?”
I frowned. I just knew he wouldn’t believe me. Just as I don’t believe anything he says. I rolled my eyes to show my disinterest in the conversation and entered my office.
“I know it when you lie, Ash!” he shouted just when the door was about to close.
I ignored him. He’s been like that when Lyle and I got engaged. He became more annoying than ever. He tells me it’s his way of making sure I no longer have intrusive thoughts to follow and commit bad decisions. To me, I know
