Chapter 37. Stalling

Anton and I were leaving in a hurry, so I wasn’t able to bring anything with me. Not my bag, not even my phone. Anton told me we’d only be gone for a few minutes and that he only had some important files to drop off at the client’s family home.
Now, I found myself looking at my old wristwatch. We had been here the entire morning. And I was only left in the car. I didn’t have any idea what Anton was doing inside the house, but what was the point of bringing me with him just to leave me here, manning the vehicle?
I wished I could turn the radio on instead. Anything… anything that would drown out this silence that was drowning me. We were in the middle of a subdivision, too. If I got out of the car, where would I go? All I could see from this view were rows and rows of houses with the same size, color, and structure. It was like the architect designed one house and then copy-pasted it a hundred times.
