Chapter 82. The Rain

I was searching her face for something: regret, sadness, guilt. Anything that will make me feel hope that this isn’t a dead end yet. As she sat there across me, I looked for any sign that she would make up her mind in reverse.
So far, though, I haven’t seen anything of the like.
“What’s your question, Dylan? Go on. You can ask me what it is.”
I cleared my throat. I have no specific question in mind. The only thing I want at the moment is clarity. I want to know if what she decided is already final. Is there anything I can do to change her mind? Stuff like that.
“Okay, I... I brought you here because I want to take you back to the beginning,” I muttered, and she frowned.
That sounded too desperate, didn’t it?
I wanted to take it back, but I know I can’t. How can I take away the effect when I have already let it go of my tongue?
