Chapter 32. Bernard's Schemes

Plus the three days of travel, Alaric, and his boys, ate nothing for five days. They were weak and dejected. Oliver tried to talk to everyone, but none of them paid him mind. The cave was cold, smelled like rotten eggs at certain times of the night, and countless bugs to keep them company. Because of the wolfs bane in their blood, they couldn't protect themselves from the bugs. This led to them spending the nights wide awake, warding off bugs, all night long. Therefore, they were all trying to catch up on sleep and conserve energy during the day. 

On the evening of their second day in the cell, they heard footsteps approaching. And even then, Nobody moved to check who it was. After all, the masked men guarding them always walk around intermittently, checking on their inmates. 

Alaric was seated against the wall of his cell with his eyes closed when one of the masked men started banging on his cell's iron bar. 

He knew the man thought he was sleeping
