Chapter 32. Bernard's Fate (2)
“I smell rotten flesh.”
Adolph was still standing beside the Williams. He lifted his nose in the air and started sniffing. After a bit, he brought his nose down and started sniffing the Williams, one after the other until he got to Scott.
Without saying a word, he bent down and checked Scott's legs. They were encased in wood planks tied together with strong, tiny ropes.
“Who did this?” Adolph asked in annoyance.
“I…j…just wanted to help the Prince interrogate them, but elder Alaric refused to yield, regardless of what I said or did. That is why his legs became like that.” Bernard stuttered through his explanation.
“So you broke my brother-in-law's legs.” Kurt nodded with a sarcastic laugh. He started rattling his fingers on the table at a rhythmic pace.
“Did I not warn you all that nothing should happen to them all?” Adolph asked, leaving Bernard and the rest confused and frustrated.
