“You stupid girl! You’ve ruined a potential good match!” he lashed out at me.
“I don’t want to get married,” I whispered back from Petula’s arms.
Robert’s eyes bulged out of his head. “You need to get married. You need heirs to carry on the family legacy. How else do you think that works? Who’s going to take care of all these?” he asked, waving his arms around.
I escaped Petula’s grip. “Maybe you should have set better examples, been a better husband and father, then this story would have been different.”
