Chapter 63. I Have My Eyes on You

Hannah’s POV

Vanessa’s not a big fan of mine. It’s been very obvious since her arrival, and for the past couple of days, I’ve kept my distance as much as I could.

But in a house like this, it’s pretty hard to do that sometimes.

“Can I help?” Vanessa asked Emily as soon as she walked into the kitchen.

It was just the three of us in the house while the boys kept things going in the shop.

“Oh, sweetie, I have everything under control,” Emily answered with her regular smile.

With a tight smile, Vanessa walked closer to me and Emily. “Please, there must be something I can help with. And besides, I want to bond with my mother-in-law.”

Left with no other choice, Emily let her stay.

“What are we making?”

“My famous chicken sauce and pasta.”

“Sounds delicious.”

“Yeah, it’s one of Hannah’s favorites.”

On hearing Emily’s words, she gave me a side-eye. “I see.”

“So, Vanessa, where did you and Matt meet?”
