“That’s a lie.” The words tore out of me before I could stop them. My hands were shaking, my heart hammering painfully in my chest.
“Nina and Trevor are lying,” I said firmly, turning to the officers. “They’re doing this because their plan failed. They’re trying to drag me down with them.”
Michael nodded immediately. “Exactly. Trevor Hale is her ex and has been bitter since she became Luna, so he has every reason to frame her.”
Mrs. Anderson straightened beside me, her voice sharp with authority. “Lena and her stepsister have never had a good relationship. Anyone who knows that family dynamic would see this for what it is; a desperate attempt to shift blame. She just wants to bring Lena along with her. You need to investigate this thoroughly and find out the truth.”
