Lena’s POV
The interrogation room was colder than I expected. The walls were bare with no windows. Just gray paint and a single flickering light that made everything feel unreal, like I had stepped into some kind of nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.
My wrists weren’t cuffed, but I still felt trapped.
Across from me sat a detective, his face unreadable, a file opened neatly in front of him and a laptop.
He looked at me like I was already guilty.
“So,” he began again, his voice flat and professional, “let’s go over it one more time.”
I swallowed hard to moisturise my dry throat.
“Where were you at the time Lucas Anderson was shot?”
I exhaled shakily. “I was kidnapped and I was just brought back home after being rescued.”
His eyes didn’t change. “And after that what did you do?”
