Max’s POV

I lay out alone in the solo darkness of my living room, watching the night light of the city through my window.

My mind kept going back to Parker as I kept wondering what he meant when he said I had something that belonged to him.

I knew his name sounded familiar, like I heard it somewhere before but I couldn’t pinpoint where I had heard it.

The son of a bitch had to play dirty and threatened Ava and Sophie. Why didn’t he just take it out with me like a man?

I downed the remaining wine in my glass and threw my head back on the couch.

The doorbell rang bringing me back to reality.

My mind went straight to Jayden. He was the only one who knew where my penthouse was and showed up unannounced. He always never bothered to trouble himself to text me beforehand.

But after I had gotten the door open as far as it would open, the last person I expected to see was standing in front of me.
