Chapter 20. Chaotic

Finally—some fresh air. The moment I stepped out of that suffocating smart house, I exhaled like I’d been underwater.
The Island was amazing, and the private beach looked beautiful from outside. But I hadn’t gotten much of a view since I was stuck in the car. That mansion had everything, but nothing beats outside in the real world. Free as a bird.
For an extrovert like me, it had been a prison. Beautiful, but still hell.
Thanks to Leo, I’d made it on time, though my head still spun from the autopilot’s reckless speed.
I waved at the car as it drove off like it was a real person. People around me stared as if I were some fallen angel—probably because of the luxury ride. I just smiled awkwardly and headed toward the building.
But when I got there, the entrance was closed. A note on the door read:
Audition postponed. New date: Two days from now.
I stood frozen, disappointment sinking in.
