“Tell me how you managed to speak so freely about your family. I didn’t sense any ounce of pain in your voice,” I ask—taunting as the question may be.
Chelsea looks at me with a gentle smile, the sun sparkling in her eyes. “That’s the thing about growing up with a therapist and becoming one yourself. I was taught to lay my anger and pain to rest way before I enacted my revenge.”
“But aren’t those the things that fuel the urge for revenge?—the kind of anger I’m feeling now.”
“The mind works in weird and wondrous ways, Tara. It can devise its own ways of doing things. And it’s different for different people. What triggered me wasn’t anger or pain. It was the idea of laying the souls of my family to rest. It was their anger and their pain that triggered me. For you, it might be something different. You just have to discover it.”
