Chapter 22. My Vengeance

Chelsea had a car registered for me under her name. It’s the same one I’m driving while returning from work now.

Her call comes on the display screen and I don’t hesitate to receive it before her voice rings from the other side, “Tara, are you with Eryis?”

“She’s in school,” I reply, “I’m on my way to pick her up.”

“Call me when you do.”

I roll my eyes. “You only care about Eryis, don’t you?”

“She’s my lucky charm.” Chelsea chuckles. “Don’t be a jealous brat.”

I pretend to scoff. “Well, that’s unfortunate.”

“By the way, Cross wants to tell you it’s finally time for your vengeance…” Chelsea’s words goes on and on. But the clangor rising in my head muffles anything she says.

Feeling dizzy, I park the car by the road before resting my head on the steering wheel.

Sweat breaks out on my skin, and I pull off the scarf tied around my neck as I find it difficult to breath. I can’t stop myself from hyperventilating.
