Darius’s POV

Fear, a foreign feeling I never thought I would experience in my existence. It’s cold and creeps on you, eating deep into your bones. Since the words left Etan’s mouth, I came to know fear, and I’ve known no peace since.

“He’s going to kill her,” Etan said with certainty.

I couldn’t bring myself to refute, knowing he was right. Ajax would kill her without a doubt. Why? I had no direct answer but speculation.

I underestimated the fact that almost nothing can happen under his nose in this castle. This is his territory, his home, and nothing passes him by, except he chooses to ignore it.

I thought he had ignored the incident that involved Fallon, Rodolfo, and me. Turns out he was just waiting for the right time to punish the human who had made his children embarrass themselves.

Knowing Ajax, I believe those were his exact thoughts. And my innocent, clueless fire has just given the perfect excuse. He’ll kill her, except I am smart
