Lisa, who he shared some sort of romantic connection with, had a way of picking up on even the smallest of nuances. The moment he answered her call, he could sense the tension in her voice, a stark contrast to the light and playful banter they usually shared. There was something off, and Tom couldn’t shake a slight unease settling in his chest.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he hastily retrieved it, glancing at the caller ID. It was Lisa again. He answered, his voice laced with curiosity, “Hey, Lisa, what’s up?”
