Two minutes passed, and Hunter remained silent despite urging me to sit. I obliged, but he still didn’t speak.
“So…” I trailed off, breaking the silence.
Instead of answering, he cleared his throat. “I don’t intend on telling you this because I know you will not believe. I wouldn’t be surprised if you laugh it off,” he began in a subdued tone. His words unsettled me more than his voice did.
“How sure are you that I will not believe you?” I asked, giving him a skeptical look.
“I knew what I was dealing with the first day we met. I won’t expect less from you,” he replied with a chuckle.
