Chapter 26

Sofia’s POV

After Steel’s birthday, it appeared as though we were alone in our world. All of a sudden, we no longer felt like we were a part of the dangerous bunch. We were just a family going about our everyday lives. For the first time since returning to American territory, I let myself go with the flow without constantly interrogating everything.

“Hey mi amor. How was school?” I asked as I picked Steel up from school.

He began to tell me all he could think of about his day. I laughed when I heard some of his comments. We stopped by a grocery store because he wanted to fill up his candy stash and his expression was too cute to ignore.. He chose out all kinds of candy, and we walked down the aisle together. His father pampered him so much that he doesn’t even listen to me when I tried to warn him not to take too much of the stuff. We paid for our things, and I also grabbed somethings for myself and we left.
