Sofia’s POV

I was a total mess. This is the second time in the last 24 hours that I have broken down, and I haven’t cried in around 20-something years. And that too in Sterling’s presence. As my tears subsided, I realized that he was holding me in his arms and lovingly caressing my hair.

I tried to get out of bed by pushing him away, but my body objected and I grumbled in agony. The doctor said that I still had several fractured ribs and that the wounds hadn’t fully healed.

He assisted me into the bathroom and I showered. By the time I came out of the bathroom, Sterling had breakfast already set up. I ate in solitude as he waited for me. I exhaled a deep breath, getting ready for the talk that was ahead.

“Please tell me, What happened when you found me?”

“That worthless ex of yours stabbed you and tried to escape but we captured him. Thanks to you. You managed to disable almost half his men.” He shook his head.
