Sofia’s POV

I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Something felt wrong every moment the man arrived in front of me. My skin crawled while listening to him. I’ve spent enough time with dangerous people often enough to be able to see red flags. Something about him made me intrigued.

Sterling’s response validated what my thoughts had previously surmised. Although I had witnessed his protective and possessive side, the speed at which his walls up around that man was unmatched.

The fact that he publicly questioned Sterling and threatened Steel in that way didn’t feel right. I turned to look at Sterling. He was staring out the car window with his hands clenched. He appeared to be deep in his thoughts. I wondered if I should approach him and say something. The car stopped before I could make up my mind, and I realized we were in front of the mansion.

Without thinking twice, I jumped out of the car and headed directly to Steel’s room. I opened the door just a little
