Chapter 14. Contentment

Avery’s POV

Lawrenta quietly picks out a bathrobe and towel for me upon noticing the slight shift in my mood. It is almost comical; she does it so quietly that I do not hear a noise from her.

“Thank you.” I mutter, taking the bathrobe and towel from her before walking towards the bathroom. I have a quick shower so that I don’t find myself overthinking and discarding the bathrobe, only wrapping a towel around my body.

I walk outside into the bedroom, and I am surprised to see Lawrenta arranging some formal gowns on the bed.

“What are you doing?”

Lawrenta looks up, and her face breaks into a wide smile. “Just selecting some clothes for dinner.”

I furrow my eyebrows as my gaze falls on the wristwatch, rings, and necklaces placed beside the clothes. “You mean I am wearing all THAT for just dinner?”
