Chapter 18. Family Dinner

Avery’s POV

Embarrassment washes through me as I realize the absurdity of the situation. I didn’t know what my ‘husband’ liked eating. My hands, which hold the spoon, want to dish back the salmon, but a strong hand holds mine and directs the spoon to his lips. In front of everybody.

He chews elegantly, ignoring the look of surprise on Guilia’s face. “I can eat anything as long as it’s from my wife.”

I don’t have a mirror right now, but I am sure I looked as red as a tomato. I hear laughter from Nana and the like, but I am too flustered to even look into their eyes. I feel a soft squeeze on my left thigh, and I look up in horror to see Ethan elegantly drinking his glass of wine while his other hand was being sneaky underneath the table.

I hear alarm bells ringing in my head as I can feel my body slowly warming up to his touch. “Ethan!” I whisper-yell, panic filling me.

Ethan suddenly stills when he hears his name, and I wonder if I crossed a line.
