Amelia’s POV
The universe really liked to make me miserable.
It wasn’t enough that my love life had turned into a soap opera. No, the universe had to throw in a little extra just to make sure I didn’t get too comfortable. Like canceling my movie marathon.
Why?
Kaylee.
More specifically, Kaylee’s uterus.
“It’s fine,” she insisted over the phone, her voice strained. “You can still come over.”
“Kay, you’re in agony. I can practically feel your cramps through the phone.”
“It’s not that bad.”
As if on cue, she let out a groan that made me wince.
“Uh-huh. Totally convincing.” I sighed. “I’ll take a rain check. You just focus on surviving tonight.”
Kaylee mumbled something that sounded suspiciously like “stupid uterus” before hanging up, and I flopped onto the couch with a groan of my own.
So much for the distraction I’d been counting on, but I wasn’t about to let my best friend suffer through
