I’d thought the events of the last twenty minutes were a dream or some absurd scene out of a novel, but with every passing moment, reality settled in. Adrian and Drew were about to settle their simmering animosity on the race track in less than fifteen minutes.

The air was thick with anticipation, the crowd’s excitement rising in waves around me. I pushed through the clusters of onlookers, each step fueled by a mix of irritation and anxiety. My heart raced as my eyes found Adrian, leaning casually against his car, the very picture of infuriating ease.

He was calm—too calm. His arms crossed over his chest, one leg bent with his boot propped against the car door. His head was tilted slightly, as though he hadn’t just tossed himself into a reckless race.
