Amelia’s POV
When I arrived at the Miller mansion, Adrian was standing in front of the gate, hands in his pockets, watching as my cab pulled up.
I stepped out, my heart in my throat.
He was right there. In front of me.
Oh, boy.
I swallowed hard, my grip tightening on the strap of my bag as I took slow, cautious steps toward him. He just stood there, watching me like he was waiting for something, maybe for me to turn around and leave, or maybe for me to say something first.
I did neither.
Instead, I let my eyes run over him, searching. Looking for any sign that things had gone sideways after he left the track. A bruise. A cut. A scuffle with Darren that ended badly. But he looked…fine. Tired, maybe. A little tense. But there was no blood, no split lip, no evidence that he’d fought anyone.
His expression was unreadable, but his voice was quiet when he finally spoke.
