“Are you sure you’re mates?” I prop my head up by resting my hands on my chin on my best friend’s bed and gaze at her, probably with dreamy stars in my eyes. How could she be so lucky?

Kaya nods, her eyes gleaming about least half as sparkly as mine would be if I were mated to the Crown Prince of Forest Kingdom. “Yes!” she squeals.

“Tell me everything.” This requires my undivided attention, so I sit straight up and lean against the bed post while she paces around explains things to me, completely unable to contain her excitement.
