My heart thrums in my chest as I take in the image in front of us.

Through the thick forest, we haven’t been able to see that we’ve reached the foothills of the mountains. Now, they stretch before us, the hills and valleys blanketed with snow that shimmers like crystals. The sky is lit with rays of violet and magenta that reflect against the large icicles hanging from the grand evergreens.

The road ahead of us is paved in smooth stone that looks like white granite polished to a pearl finish, with a rainbow of colors twinkling from its surface like a massive opal gemstone. It’s lined with colorful vegetation I can’t quite recognize. They look like flowers, but that’s impossible against all this snow.
