Chapter 222. The Library
Angel—Lady Madelyn’s faithful assistant—strode into the palace library, clad in a white dress that clung tightly to her form. Strands of her silky black hair hung loosely in front of her face, while the rest was gathered into a tight bun at the back of her head. The last time we saw her, she had been dressed in grey, attending a Heptagon meeting with Lady Madelyn. Today, however, she was engaged in some… unauthorised research.
She stopped before the librarian behind a long wooden counter. The man was buried deep in a book, his glasses perched low on the bridge of his nose. He wore a green robe with thin golden stripes running from his shoulders down to the hem at his feet. He hadn’t yet noticed Angel.
She cleared her throat with a deliberate cough, and he lifted his gaze. He examined her attire—because, for some reason, that seemed to be his way of greeting guests. His eyes travelled from the hem of her linen dress, along her curves, and up to her glistening red lips
