Chapter 48. Pure Hatred
~Earlier~
I lay on the ground among multiple refugees in a large tent late at night, twisting, turning, and switching positions as I couldn’t find a comfortable way to sleep. My entire body burned with a fever, and my face and clothes were drenched in sweat. Still deep in my slumber, I let out slow and steady breaths; the atmosphere had become unbreathable for some reason.
In my mind, I could feel something struggling, roaring like a wild animal as if it were about to burst out and destroy everything in its path, but the chains that held it back wouldn’t let it. The chains I had used to hold this monster in since I arrived at the western city were strong and unbreakable, but who knew for how long?
I could feel it clawing its way out slowly; I could feel my entire body changing.
