Chapter 90. Whisper the Owl
Arthur paced around in his tent anxiously, his right index and thumb holding his chin and his left hand at his back—he had fallen into deep thought. He stopped at intervals, moving his gaze between the ceiling and the ground with his brows drawn together as he ruminated on the discussion he had with Queen Meridah and King Tharos.
“Something’s missing, I know it,” he uttered inaudibly. As soon as he said those words, Elena’s voice sounded outside his tent.
“My lord, may I come in?” Elena asked.
Arthur turned to the tent curtains and let out a sigh, smiling. “Please do,” he said, moving to the table at the center of the tent.
Elena pushed the curtains open and stepped into the tent with a cage containing her new friend, Whisper the owl. Elena wore a simple pink dress that had a gown reaching her lower shin. She used her free hand to lift her gown and curtsied to greet King Arthur, then walked to meet him at the table.
