Does the goddess even see people like us?

The bright orange flames illuminated the entire house and raised its temperature significantly, releasing beautiful yellow sparks as it ate away at the wooden environment around Rhys and Mabel. Rustling and crackling sounds could be heard as the floorboards and walls gradually got torn apart by the flames—parts of the house had already begun to collapse.

Mabel, lying prone on the ground, pulled herself across the floor to meet Rhys, spreading the blood gushing out of her stomach along her path. Her mouth was covered in blood, and her eyes were now almost completely lifeless. Rhys lay flat on her stomach, staring at the flames on her right with a blank expression as blood soaked her dress from the hole in her chest and back and down her lips.

Mabel finally reached her, breathing heavily. Their eyes met, and tears rolled out of Rhys’s. Her teardrops dropped onto the wooden floor, and a stream of vapor rose up into the air.
