Chapter 23. In Need of Distraction
“Where are you going?” asked Mia when she saw Keira coming out of her room carrying a handbag. “Um, I’m going to see someone,” she answered casually.
“Someone?” Mia frowned in suspicion. Keira grimaced, jumped on the couch, and sat beside her. “Do you remember Luke Bracy from Michigan?” she asked.
Mia nodded, “Yeah, you’re a senior in college. What? You’re going to meet him?” she didn’t sound happy. Keira nodded happily, but her expression changed when she saw Mia’s face.
“What’s with that face?” asked Keira, tilting her head. Mia sighed and folded her arms across her chest. “Listen, your marriage is counting the days! You cannot see anyone at such a time! Ben is very famous among New Yorkers!”
Keira bit her lip while scratching the back of her neck, confused. “We’re just friends, me and Luke Bracey! People will understand!” she said, trying to make an excuse. “No, they won’t! Trust me, just don’t mess up!”
