Chapter 44. The Woman in the Wheelchair

Keira was quite surprised when she saw Ben push the red button, rejecting Julia’s call. “Let’s get in!” he said as he grabbed her hand. She was no longer flattered by his treatment because she knew why he did that. They walked into the building accompanied by the sound of paparazzi camera shots. Arriving at the apartment lobby, they were surprised by the appearance of Keira’s parents.

“Mom? Dad?” Keira was shocked to see her parents waiting in the lobby with the basket of fruit they brought.

“Kei Kei! Benji! My kids…” Keira’s mother mumbled as she stretched her arms out to hug her daughter warmly, while beside her, her father was busy greeting Ben, who was as surprised as Keira.

“When did you guys come?” asked Keira, trying to cover up her nervousness and awkwardness over the recent troubles between her and her mother.

“About an hour ago, we purposely wanted to surprise you guys,” said Keira’s father with a big smile.

Keira cleared her throat and scrat
