“In Chicago?” she gasped. Nikolas nodded with a wry smile on his face. “How? You were stalking me to kill me, right?” she asked, looking shocked. Nikolas shook his head slowly.
“No, the plan was to just look out for Brandon, but Bruce clicked a photograph of you and sent it to me. After seeing you, I had no idea what compelled me to come over to Chicago and stalk you in person. I would never have killed you. I don’t kill people, Brooklyn. In fact, every time I saw you, I felt a strange need to protect you. Every time you cried, I felt a stabbing pain in my heart,” he told her.
