"Stay in here; let me go find out what’s wrong."

"Promise? You always love to disobey me."

"The second time had favoured you; not so?"

"Well, that is true, but this time, stay true to your promise and remain indoors."

I grinned; he saw I was messing with him, and he just shook his head.

"I am in trouble. Of all the women, it just had to be you."

It was his turn to grin.

"That was a compliment."

"It didn’t sound like it. But you’re forgiven. Now go find out what your people need."

I gave him a play-eye roll.

"I promise I won’t leave the room."

"I’ll hold you to that." He said that and kissed me deeply on the lips before leaving.
