"Where’s Mama Lia now?"
I asked in a much softer tone. Anxious about her reply. And half hoping that it was a place I could visit. If it were, I would fight to leave this despicable pack and its vile, vengeful Alpha and go to that place to continue living with her forever. Never leaving her side.
I heard Lia’s chuckle, and I immediately knew why. Though it made me feel foolish, I refused to cave in to the fact that I did feel foolish. It didn’t matter. Everyone has dreams and wishes. This was mine, however crazy it sounded.
"Ha ha ha. Laugh all you want."
And that was the permission she needed to let loose fits of laughter. She practically guffawed. It was weird hearing a wolf laugh; her boisterous laugh boomed in my head. Not in the way that would signify the prospect of a headache. It was more like playing a loud but enjoyable song that, no matter how high the volume was, you’d enjoy nonetheless.
