"What?!"
I jolted in shock at the raging tone of the Alpha. My heart skipped a beat, and my nerves were knotted tight and very strained.
But I decided to put up a brave front; I didn’t want them to know how affected I had been by his stunned yell. He hadn’t seen that coming; I knew it, and it quite tingled me to know I could dish out surprises to him, even if they weren’t the pleasant kind.
Mama Mia glanced at Alpha Arthur; she didn’t say anything, but her looks said it all — she was warning him for the last time not to raise his voice at me again. She squeezed my hands tightly.
"Talk to me, Hazel. What’s wrong? It’s obvious you’re very upset about something. Tell me, what is it?"
"I’m not upset, Mama Mia."
